FAQ’s

Is there electricity?

At Keurbosfontein there is only solar to charge devices. In an emergency, there is a generator, but we rarely, if ever use it. Candles and Paraffin lanterns are provided. At Klipwerf, there is no electricity whatsoever and paraffin lanterns are provided

Is there Wifi?

Yes, there is WiFi at Keurbosfontein but we don’t like to let you use it unless there’s an emergency. Escaping from the city is not the same when you continue to get bombarded by messages and emails.  There is no Wifi at Bakkrans and Klipwerf.

How do we book Bakkrans?

Drop us a mail at [email protected] with your requirements and we’ll tailor an offering.

What is the best time of year to visit the Red Cederberg?

South African winter and cooler months are great (April – October). The mornings and nights are crisp and the days are wonderful. Flower season begins from end July and can extend into October! November is also a good month but be aware that temperatures are starting to rise. Over summer months, temperatures can soar as high as 43 degrees C but that’s what swimming pools are for. We believe there’s a season for everybody in the Cederberg.

How far are the Red Cederberg Escapes from Cape Town?

Keurbosfontein is approximately 3 hours 30 minute drive from Cape Town. Klipwerf is a further 30 minutes from Keurbosfontein. Bakkrans is a 90 minutes drive from Keurbosfotnein (17km’s on a 4x4 road).

Do I need a 4x4 to reach the Red Cederberg Escapes?

As Keurbosfontein is accessed along dirt road, ideally a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle is better suited for the journey, but not a deal-breaker. Sedan’s can travel to Keurbosfontein but we would suggest at low speeds of no more than 30km’s an hour from the top of the Uitkyk Pass.
